Universe of Dreams is an
extraordinary multi-media concert that evokes all the wonder and mystery
of the universe. Dazzling images from the Hubble Space Telescope,
readings of authors such as Mary Oliver and Isaac Asimov, and “....music
that speaks to the heart in ways that transcend mere language.”
Narrated by Neal Conan, host of NPR’s Talk of the Nation, this
production marries poetry and stories with music (by Ensemble Galilei)
and beautiful, compelling projected images from the Hubble Space
Telescope.
Audiences have been swept away by this extraordinary combination of the
music, images and spoken word in what has been described by critics as
“....music that speaks to the heart in ways that transcend mere
language.”
Ensemble Galilei is made up of musicians with classical and folk music
training, all of whom have more than a passing acquaintance with higher
education and musical excellence. They take their name from composer and
father of the astronomer Galileo Galilei. Ensemble Galilei has blended
medieval, classical and folk pieces to create a peaceful and stately
work. Mixing the colors and styles of early instruments with Celtic
traditions, the group is equally at home with Irish Reels, Medieval
Cantigas and English Country Dance tunes. They are versatile, virtuosic,
energetic, and very entertaining
