Campus Safety is authorized by the College to protect
the campus community and campus property and strives to make the
campus safe for Whittier students and employees.
Campus Safety patrols the campus 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. Officers perform many police functions on property owned and
operated by the College, such as:
-
answering calls for service and emergencies
-
securing buildings
-
registering bicycles and vehicles
-
performing campus safety inspections
-
providing escort service
-
instituting campus watch programs and operation
identification
-
controlling crowds at major events
-
enforcing traffic and parking regulations
-
providing educational programs
The Campus Safety Department is deeply
concerned with the security and well-being of all students.
Because unlawful activities are a possibility on the College’s
property, students who are stopped by a campus safety officer are
required to present proper identification and follow any
instructions given by the officer. Students who see anyone
or anything that is even slightly suspicious are encouraged to
call the dispatcher for assistance or information. Students’
cooperation and assistance is essential to Campus Safety in
maintaining a safe and secure campus community. |
