SEVEN NAMED “OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR” BY
WHITTIER COLLEGE
WHITTIER, CA (January 10, 2006)—Each year the Whittier College Department of
Education and Child Development hosts a formal event to recognize outstanding
Whittier College-affiliated educators in our local communities. The 2006 event,
Celebrating 87 Years of Teaching Excellence, will take place on Sunday, January
15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts, 6760
Painter Ave. During the ceremony, a keynote address will be given by Whittier
College President Sharon Herzberger. For more information on the individual

Nominated by their peers, the educators selected for this honor clearly
demonstrate the following qualities in their work with children/youth,
colleagues, and the larger community: instructional expertise, creativity and
innovation, attention to diversity and individual student needs, leadership
experience, advocacy for the profession and dedication to lifelong learning, and
the demonstrated ability to engage parents and the community.
