ADD: Gilchrist, president and co-Chief Executive Officer of Maguire Properties, graduated from Whittier College in 1968. He will speak on “An L.A. Story: The Maguire Properties IPO in a Changing Public Market Environment.” A former practicing attorney and the current chairman of the Whittier College Board of Trustees, Gilchrist was named to his post in 2003, when MaguirePartners went public as Maguire Properties Inc. and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The company operates as a real estate investment trust (REIT), which allows investors to participate in large real estate ventures; it is the largest landholder in downtown Los Angeles. Gilchrist was a senior partner in MaguirePartners from 1982-95, until he left to co-found Commonwealth Partners, a Los Angeles-based commercial real estate firm. He was then CEO of Commonwealth Atlantic, a privately held REIT in the Washington, D.C. area, until he returned to MaguirePartners as a consultant in February of 2002.
