Shannon Center for the Performing Arts, 6760 Painter Ave, located on the Whittier College campus. Admission is $25 general, $20 seniors. For additional information, directions, or to purchase tickets, please call (562) 907-4203, or visit online, www.shannoncenter.org Acclaimed bassist Jennifer Leitham has been called a “left-handed virtuoso of the upright bass.” Working with legends such as Woody Herman, Bill Watrous, and Gerry Mulligan, she has performed in concert venues worldwide and contributed to more than 100 jazz recordings, though she is best-known for decade-long stints playing alongside Mel Tormé and Doc Severinsen. Leitham was a member of The Tonight Show All-Stars and the Benny Carter Quintet, among others; her latest CD is The Real Me. The 2007-2008 Ruth B. Shannon Center JazzCabaret Concert Series features a diverse line-up of musical artists, performing everything from doo-wop and be-bop-inspired jazz to music composed for Broadway and Disney films. The season includes four shows and runs October 2007 though February 2008. Future performers include Annette Warren Smith and The Alley Cats Christmas show. Founded by Quakers in
