Palmer members gathered on chilly Southern California Sunday morning to paint the rock- remarkably close to the campus construction but still a gathering spot for our big day- a winter-themed Palmer Rush "Winter Wonderland". After picking up our guests, we all met back at the rock for pictures and socializing before heading off on our day. Our first stop was the North Woods Inn, in La Mirada, with its "snow" laden roof perfectly suited for our winter themed event. Plenty of great food was enjoyed and provided the energy we needed for our next stop- ice skating! The group visited the famous East West Ice Palace in Artesia, home of world champion figure skater Michelle Kwan, where the more experienced skaters of the bunch helped the novices brave a few turn around the rink and many laughs were had for the effort. We did also participate in games for those who decided to save their ice skating energies for another day. Once everyone was tired out from skating and game play, the group moved on to Mom and Dad Roy's House in Whittier for cake and Palmer punch and where they watched an awesome sisterhood video lots of laughs and aahhs, especially from the actives. Through out the day, Palmers and guests got to know each other better and Palmers shared how much being a part of a society has meant to them. This was emphasized as we wrapped up our day reminiscing over scrapbooks and sharing our personal experiences both in voice and song. Thank you to everyone who shared in our Palmer Rush and happily contributed to the fun especially our new friends! |
