Database Factoids

Living Palmer Membership is estimated at over 900 women.

Approximately 10% of the society has lost contact with the College or is not registered as a Palmer member with the College.

Of those members we are in contact with, approximately 72% live in California and 57% live in Southern half.

Of these So. Cal. sisters, 77% live in LA or Orange Counties. That's over 44% of the total society!

Almost 32% of the Society can be reached by e-mail.

The Palmer database is maintained by Palmer alumna volunteers. We collect data from the following resources:

  • Web Page Submission

  • Homecoming RSVP Cards

  • Submitted Information Cards at Alumnae Events

New Information– March 1, 2008

New policies have been implemented at Whittier College ultimately designed to protect the privacy of its alumni and former students by limiting access to the information Whittier College maintains in its database.

The consequence is the Palmer Society will no longer receive updates regarding changes in addresses, phone numbers, or e-mail electronically from Whittier College.  Students and their affiliates will not be given unsupervised access to address labels provided by Whittier College and will not retain any information contained therein. Further, all phone lists will be provided in only hard copy or protected formats.

This will limit how current the private Palmer Database remains.

Current plans for Palmer alumnae communications include:

  • Utilize Whittier College data only for Homecoming invitations and other mass mailings to the entire society.

We are working with Alumni relations to find a way to vet this list to ensure that everyone receives an invitation.

  • Rely on the Palmer private database for contacting alumnae about local activities including Rush, New Member Education, and alumnae activities.

  • Continue to communicate by e-mail by member request.

If you wish to remain in the loop regarding Palmer Active activities...

We can only get contact information to keep on file if we receive it from you directly.

  • When you move, please update us by e-mail or by filing out the online census form.

  • We will be happy to forward your information to Whittier College, for your convenience, by your request.

What are we going to do with this information?

Privacy:  All information collected will remain completely private and used only for society business.  We will not forward your personal information to any person without your express permission nor will it ever be sold or redistributed to any outside group or Palmer for their personal business purpose.

How you can help.

  • Tell all the Palmers you know about this project.

  • If a Palmer sister cannot log on to a computer to share her information with us, let us know and we will find a way to get her record.
