Scholarship
is Now Endowed
The Palmer Society Alumnae Leadership Council has successfully endowed this
merit based scholarship for undergraduate Palmer actives by raising over $30,000
in this year alone for a grand total of over $50,000 since the fund’s inception
in Fall 2009. This goal was accomplished a full 3 years ahead of schedule with
approximately 1/3 of the monies raised in 2011 completed a $20,000 match
challenge from Palmer member and Whittier College trustee, Barbara Groce ’52 and
her husband, David. Scholarships will now be available to the Palmer Society
active undergraduates in perpetuity.
We are now accepting applications for our merit based scholarship. This
will be the second year of this award; last year, we awarded two merit
based scholarships to undergraduate members. This year’s award will be as
much as $1,380 and will be given in February for the Spring semester.
Applications will be accepted through Jan 20. Scholarship Meets Match Challenge- July 2011
The Palmer Society Alumnae Leadership Council is pleased to
announce that as of June 2011, we have officially met the match challenge
created by
Barbara (Ondrasik) Groce ‘57 and her husband David to initiate the Palmer
Alumnae Scholarship fund. The Groces agreed to match all donations up to $20,000
by June 2014 in order to help realize a vision of a scholarship for a Palmer
Society Active member.
Very proudly, Palmer members, active and alumnae, and our friends, our
families and supporters did so a full 3 years ahead of schedule!
Today, the Palmer Alumnae Scholarship fund is at $48,882.22.

Together with our first inaugural awards, given in February
2011 to
Elspeth Foran ’11 and Gabriela Gutierrez ’12, our 90th year as a Whittier
Colleges first Women's Society is certainly a proud one.
The Palmer Alumnae Leadership Council will continue working to
grow this fund. Together in sisterhood, Palmer resources and
ingenuity can create a legacy worthy of our tradition and help a Palmer Girl
finish her education.
As we work towards these continuing worthy goal, please consider your
