Nancy Mercado '13 Wins the
2013 Palmer Alumnae Endowed Scholarship Award

The Palmer Society Alumnae are pleased to announce that Nancy Mercado '13 is this year's recipient of the Palmer Society Alumnae Endowed Scholarship. The Scholarship Panels this year were impressed by Nancy's complete application and interview in which we learned a lot about her service to the Palmer Society and how she embodies our Values and Ideals. We are proud to call her our sister and know she has a bright future ahead of her.

Nancy received her award at the Annual Scholarship Tea held on Sunday, January 27. This year's scholarship was named special "The 2013 Barbara Ondrasik Groce Scholarship Prize" to acknowledge Barbara's role in helping to establish an award that all Alumnae can be proud of giving. It has been a dream of many Palmer Alumnae to be able to support our Active sisters with a financial award for their studies for many years; Barbara's leadership was instrumental in making this dream come true.

The Palmer Society Alumnae Scholarship is a merit based award given to a currently active Palmer Society member in good standing who models the values of the Palmer Society as stated in our Mission and Values Statement. This scholarship was established in 2009 and endowed in 2011. The 2013 award is the fourth scholarship that we have given. The Palmer Society community has steadily raised over $60,000 to endow this fund and continue to work to grow it with the objective of offering both more scholarships and bigger awards so we may honor more of hardworking active sisters.
