The Whittier College
Library was designated a Federal Depository
Library for the 34th U.S. Congressional District
in 1963. Currently, the Library selects 25% of
the documents offered by the Government Printing
Office. As required by Title 44, Section 1911 of
the U.S. Code, access to all print and
electronic publications is free to the public.
Heavily used areas of government documents
include: business, census, Congressional
publications, education, and environmental
sciences. In addition to the Federal Collection,
the Library is also a selective depository for
California State documents.
Location and hours
The federal and state documents are located on
the first floor of the Library, and can be used
during regular library hours. Many government
documents have been integrated into the
Library’s main collection, and can be located
via WALDO, the Whittier online catalog. Those
documents not in the online catalog can be found
on MARCIVE, a CD-Rom of all federal documents
published from 1976 to the present. Ask
librarians or staff for assistance.
Reference
Reference assistance can be obtained throughout
the day and some evening hours.
The reference desk is located on the first floor
of the Library. Reference phone number: (562)
907-4247.
Electronic Resources
As more government documents are being made
available only on the World Wide Web, a
dedicated computer is available to access these
resources. Inquire at the Reference Desk for the
location of this computer. Printing is available
at 10 cents per page.
Internet Use Policy Guidelines
