Wardman Library’s Media & Academic Technology Services encompasses a range of instructional, research, and outreach services. These include services previously managed through Media Services; namely, audio-visual support, classroom tech support and setups, conversion services, and acquisitions to the film collection. We are in the process of adding video-conferencing, Digital Storytelling, and taping some classroom lectures. To request a setup for a class or academic event requiring projection, computer and/or AV equipment please email: mediarequests@whittier.edu, call ext. 4545, or come to the circulation desk in the library. Requests must be made three days in advance or earlier.
The library is eager to build its film collection that responds to the needs and interests of the College community. If you would like to request or recommend an acquisition to the collection please email: mediarequests@whittier.edu. All requests are subject to approval by the College Librarian. If you are planning to show the film on a specific date, please allow at least two weeks for a film to arrive. Foreign films in PAL or SECAM format require additional time for conversion.
Digitize VHS tapes, audio cassettes, LPs, or media in other analogue formats (1 week): You may request that Media & Academic Technology Services digitize an item for you; or you may request guidance so you can do this yourself with library equipment on your own timetable. Media and computer equipment need a lot of TLC to function reliably. We very much appreciate your help in making sure our collective resources are well maintained and functioning. If you find a burnt out bulb, a missing cable, a gummed up mouse, a flagging jack, a jammed screen, sparking wires, wayward media carts, unready media ready room, blue screens of death or any other functional snafus, PLEASE share your pain with a sympathetic media services team member.
