HELPFUL HINTS
- Complete all applications required -
DO NOT wait until the last minute.
- It is helpful to have your parents 2001 Federal
Income Tax Returns when completing these applications.
However, if you have not yet completed your taxes, use
estimated information as explained in the application
instructions. Do not wait for your taxes to be
completed, this will only cause a delay in the
submission of your application.
- Use a Number 2 pencil.
- Use your full name and social security number
exactly how it appears on your Social Security card. Do
not forget your date of birth. If your name, date of
birth and social security number do not match up with
the Department of Education's records, the Office of
Student Financing will request copies of your US Birth
Certificate and / or your INS documentation.
- Do not leave any questions blank, unless instructed
to do so. If your answer is zero, write in "zero".
- Whittier College's FAFSA code number is 001342.
- Don't forget to sign and date your applications.
Failing to provide signatures will result in the
rejection of your application.
- Make copies of all your application materials - Keep
them for your own records!
- Use the envelopes provided to mail out your
applications - DO NOT mail any Whittier College
documents or your Tax Returns to the processors. Do not
forget to include postage.
- For a minimal charge, the US Postal Service will
provide you with a receipt of mailing when you mail your
application to the processors. In the event that the
application gets lost, you will be able to document that
you did in fact mail your applications before the
priority-filing date.
