Conditions for Use

USE OF THE COLLECTION

Access to the Collection is initiated through a search request. We perform the search to determine if the Collection contains any coverage between 1927-1966 for the area you designate.

FEES:

Commercial Users: The search fee for Commercial Users is $60 per hour (with a $60 minimum charge) for the time required to perform the research.

Non-Commercial Users: The search fee for Non-Commercial Users is $30 per hour for each search area (with a $30 minimum) for the time required to complete the research.

This charge is a time fee for us to research the Collection, and applies whether or not you come in to view the photos and/or purchase reprints. Occasionally our research will determine that the Collection does not contain coverage for the requested area. In this case, the hourly research fees will still be charged for the time spent attempting to locate photographs. First time clients must pay search fees prior to viewing the photos.

TURN-AROUND TIMES:

The normal turn-around time for searches is 3 - 5 working days. Searches can be performed on a RUSH basis with a turn-around time of 24 hours. The charges for RUSH searches are double those of normal searches for both Commercial and Non-Commercial Users.

TO REQUEST A SEARCH:

The following is a general description of our search procedure; if you are new to using our Collection we ask you to call us before faxing over a request. If you have previously used our Collection you can fax us a search request at (562) 693-6117. Please include the following on your fax:

Thomas Guide county name, page, and grid coordinates for the area(s) you would like us to search

The site address and closest minor cross-streets, or site boundaries

Your name, company name, address, phone number, and fax number

Any internal client job number your company may require for payment

Upon completion of your search, we will fax you a listing of the photos located. Fairchild materials do not circulate and may be viewed at Whittier College by appointment only, after the search has been completed. If you wish to come in and view our photos, you need to call us after you receive our fax to schedule an appointment, which must be made at least 24 hours in advance to allow us time to prepare your file. No additional fees are incurred for the first appointment to view the photos.

REPRINTS OF PHOTOS:

Reprints of all photographs are available for purchase through the Collection, either as photographic (hard-copy) reproductions or digital (electronic) files. No duplicate negatives or photocopies are offered for sale. Please contact the Collection for a complete schedule of reproduction costs.
