Water Polo Falls at Pomona-Pitzer
Perine '08, Galvin '08 Score Two Apiece

Karley Perine '08 and Caroline Galvin '08 each scored a pair of goals, but Whittier College lost 9-5 to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play in Claremont, Calif. on April 11.  The loss drops the Poets to 2-2 in conference play (9-13 overall).

Perine also finished with four steals and four drawn penalties.  Galvin was credited with one assist.  Catherine Gouge '08 scored the Poets' other goal.  Nicole Sandoval '08 led the Poets defensively with six steals and one block, and tallied an assist on the offensive end.  Sarah Wills '09 made five saves in goal.

The Poets were unable to find the net in the first quarter, and went into the halftime break with just one goal.  The five first half goals by the Sagehens gave them the lead they would need, as both teams tallied four goals in the second half.

The Poets are at home for their next contest against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on April 14.  The game is scheduled to begin at 11am.
