Water Polo Loses First Conference Game
Galvin '08, Perine '08 Score Four Apiece
Caroline Galvin '08 and Karley Perine '08 each scored
four goals, but Whittier College lost 10-9 to conference rival
California Lutheran University
on March 31. It is the first conference loss for the Poets
(9-12, 2-1 SCIAC) this season.
Catherine Gouge '08 scored the only other goal for the Poets.
Sarah Wills '09 made seven saves in goal.
Whittier jumped out to an early lead
and ended the first quarter up 4-1.
The Regals (10-6, 1-0 SCIAC) fought back in the second, scoring four
straight to tie the score at five leading into halftime. Whittier
fell behind after giving up two goals in the third, while only netting
one of their own. The teams each scored three goals in the final
stanza and the Regals escaped with the 10-9 win. |

The Poets are on the road for their next contest; a conference clash
with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on April 11. The match is scheduled to
begin at 7pm. |
