Poets Beat Caltech in Four Games
Bibi Gonzales '08 recorded team-highs with nine kills, five
service aces and 16 digs as Whittier College claimed a 3-1 (30-26,
30-21, 23-30, 30-25) victory over the California Institute of Technology
in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on
October 24. |

Poets Face Caltech Oct. 24
Whittier College lost 3-0 (30-19, 30-15, 30-20) to nationally ranked
no. 3 University of La Verne in Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference action on October 21. The Poets fall to 3-15
overall and 2-10 in the SCIAC, while La Verne improves to 25-1 overall
and 11-0
in conference play.

Poets Fall to Seventh in SCIAC
Bibi Gonzales '08 finished with ten kills and 17 digs, but
Whittier College lost 3-0 (30-25, 30-28, 30-27) to Occidental College in
a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on
October 20. The Poets are now 3-15 overall, 2-8 in the SCIAC while
Occidental improves their record to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in conference

Two Poets Set Career Highs

Danell Booher '09 set career highs with 30 and 23 digs,
respectively, but Whittier College lost 3-1 on the road to the
University of Redlands
on October 17. The Poets fall to 3-14 overall and 2-7 in
the SCIAC while Redlands improves to 15-6 overall and 6-5 in conference

each finished with nine kills, but Whittier College

non-conference play on October 12. The Poets' record
is now 3-13 while Chapman improved to 11-7.

Poets Swept by Conference #2
Whittier College lost 3-0 (30-14, 30-12, 30-17) to the Southern
California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference second place team,
California Lutheran University, at home on October 10. The Poets
(3-12, 2-6 SCIAC) are currently in sixth place in the conference, while
the Cal Lutheran (12-3, 8-1 SCIAC) remain in second place.

Poets Dominate in Third Win
Whittier College held a 41-18 advantage in kills as they beat La
Sierra University in straight games (30-13, 30-18, 30-21) in a
non-conference road game on October 7. The Poets are now 3-11

Whittier Starts Season at Pacific Coast Classic
Poets Go Winless
in Tournament
Whittier College lost all four
matches they played in the Pacific Coast Classic hosted by Pomona-Pitzer
College on September 8 and 9. The Poets were beat by Willamette
University in four games (28-30, 30-22, 30-28, 30-25) and the University
of California-Santa Cruz in three games (30-17, 30-17, 30-13) on day
one. On day two, the Poets were swept by both George Fox
University (30-25, 30-21, 30-10) and Lewis and Clark University (30-25,
