Greg Phillips
Assistant Coach

Greg Phillips holds a M.S. Degree in Physical
Education and competed in cross country and track &
field at the NCAA DI level. He enters his 22nd
season as a track & field coach and has
sent 22 Whittier College student-athletes to the NCAA
Championships on one or more occasions. In addition,
four teams have earned National ranking.

Ty Wynn
Assistant Coach
Sprints/Jumps/Multi-Events

Ty Wynn holds a M.A. Degree in Physical Education.
He was a four time NAIA All-American in the
Decathlon while attending Azusa Pacific University
and has coached at the community college
level. He has also taught courses in Olympic weight
training, Circuit weight training, and
Relaxation/Flexibility Fitness.

Justin Grasmeyer
Assistant Coach
Throws
Justin Grasmeyer
is entering his first season as an assistant coach
for the Whittier College Track and Field Program.
He is a 2006 graduate of Calvin College where he was
a two-time All-American (2004-05) in the discus.
He was All-Conference four years and won a
conference championship in 2004. He was also a
two-time scholastic All-American. He is
currently attending the Southern California
University of Health Sciences-Chiropractic.

Cathy Burt holds a M.A. Degree in Education and is
Whittier’s school record holder for the hammer and
discus. In addition, she competed in the NCAA DIII National Championships as a Javelin thrower and
earned All-American recognition for that event.

Luis Ibarra
Assistant Coach
Distance/Middle-Distance
Luis Ibarra is Whittier’s school record holder for
the 3000m Steeplechase (9:10) and competes for Nike
Team Run LA. He is a three time qualifier for the
Mexican National Track & Field Championships and
competed in the NCAA DIII National Championships.

Ann Hickey
Assistant Coach
Jumps
Dr. Ann Hickey holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a
specialization in sport psychology from the
University of Southern California. She received her
B.A. from Whittier College, where she was
all-Conference in the high jump and long jump. She
was also the head track and field coach for Mayfield
Senior School, in Pasadena, California, for three
years. She currently works as a sport psychology
consultant and teaches two classes at Whittier
College.
