ASSISTANT COACH - MARK
JENSEN
First year assistant Mark
Jensen is no stranger to Whittier College. He graduated in
2000 with a degree in History and shortly thereafter
married his wife Emily. Coach Jensen and his wife have two
young boys: Devon and Drew. He played two years of junior
college basketball at Cypress College before transferring
to Whittier in 1998, where he finished his playing career
under Coach Carter. |
Coach Jensen began pursuing
coaching right after completing his degree at Whittier in
the spring of 2000. He returned to Cypress to help coach
the men’s team in 2000-2001 and then moved with his wife
to Eastern Washington University, outside of Spokane to
pursue a Master’s Degree in History. While in Washington,
he was an assistant to former N.B.A. All-Star Craig Ehlo
at Rogers High School. He credits coach Ehlo for
influencing the way he approaches teaching the details of
the game. In 2002, Coach Jensen returned to southern
California and began coaching at Rio Hondo College under
head coach Steve Hebert. He’s been there for the last
three years and now brings that experience to Whittier’s
men’s program. He is extremely excited about the
opportunity to coach at his alma mater and is positive
about the possibilities and progress of this year’s team.
