Women's Lacrosse Wins One on Spring Break
Poets Have Most Wins since 2003
Kourtney Sexauer '08 scored five goals to lead Whittier College
to its second win of the season, a 14-7 victory over University of the
Pacific at the University of Puget Sound on April 8. The Poets
(2-10) played three games at Puget Sound, losing 18-12 to Puget Sound on
April 6 and 12-10 to Linfield University on April 7.
The Poets' two wins this season are the most for the program since 2003,
when they picked up three victories.
Against Puget Sound, Emily Mukai '10, Jessie Koffman '10 and
Shari Brokowsky '08 tallied three goals apiece. Cassiby
Lake '08 scored twice and Sarah Lamb '10 added one goal.
Jessica Farrell '10 made 15 saves in goal. The Poets were
down 8-7 at halftime and tied the score at 12 in the second, before the
Loggers scored the last six goals. |

In the loss to Linfield, Koffman led the Poets with four goals.
Mukai scored twice and Lake, Sexauer, Ashley Ardrey '09 and
Armelle Gueye '09 each scored once. Farrell made 17 saves
in goal. The Poets scored just two goals in the first half, before
making a furious comeback attempt with eight in the second, but fell two
goals short in the end.
In the Poets' lone win over the weekend, Mukai and Lake each scored
three goals to go along with Sexauer's five. Brokowsky finished
with a goal and an assist. Koffman and Ardrey each scored once and
Danell Booher '08 was credited with an assist. Farrell made
ten saves in goal. The Poets jumped out to an early lead with
Sexauer scoring the first two goals of the game. They went into
halftime with a 10-6 lead. They held Linfield to just one goal in
the second half to secure the 14-7 victory.
The Poets come home for their next contest with the University of
Redlands on April 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 7pm. |
