Women's Lacrosse Wins First Game in Three Years
Koffman '09 Tallies Four Goals to Lead Poets

Jessie Koffman '09 scored four goals to lead Whittier College to a 10-8 victory over Marymount University (VA) at Memorial Stadium on March 7.  The win is the first for the Poet women's lacrosse program since March 18, 2004 when Whittier beat Mount Holyoke 15-7.

Koffman also picked up a game-high eight groundballs and had six draw controls.  Emily Mukai '10 scored three goals for the Poets.  Kourtney Sexauer '08, Cassidy Lake '08 and Armelle Gueye '09 finished with a goal apiece.  Shari Brokowsky '08 made eight saves in goal.

The Poets were down 6-4 at halftime before outscoring Marymount 6-2 in the second half.  The Poets held a 19-17 edge in groundballs and forced five Marymount turnovers.  Whittier outshot Marymount 24-18 in the game.  Whittier's ten goals also mark the most the Poets have scored in a game since 2004 when they scored 11 in their final game of the season in a loss to Redlands.

The Poets are at home for their next game on March 10 against Kean University.  The game is scheduled to start at 12pm.
