Will
Morris
begins his ninth season as the head coach of the women’s
basketball team. The Poets have enjoyed continued success
since his arrival at Whittier.
Prior to coming to Whittier, Will was the Associate Head Coach
for men at NCAA Division II Cal State Hayward. Will helped
turn that program around as well. Prior to his arrival at
Hayward, the Pioneers had won only three games in the previous
season. In his first year, they won eight games and in his
second and final year they won 18 games and were co-champions
of the Northern California Athletic Conference. The defense
which he coordinated was ranked second nationally in Division
II. |

No stranger to the SCIAC, Will began his
collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at the
University of La Verne. During Will’s three years with the
Leopards, they were nationally ranked every season. The
1992-93 Leopards were ranked first of all the teams in the
Western Region, SCIAC co-champs, and reached the NCAA “Sweet
Sixteen.” That ULV squad is the only one in the history of the
institution to reach the NCAA tournament in men’s basketball.
Will was a practicing attorney specializing in estate planning and
real estate law prior to resuming his coaching career.
He is an Honors Graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison
Law School. Will earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Oberlin College
in Sociology and Anthropology.
In addition to his duties coaching basketball at Whittier, Will also
served as the head women’s lacrosse coach for three years and was the head golf coach for
three years. Will began his coaching career with stints at Blair,
St. Francis and Pasadena High Schools.
