Women's Basketball Wins a Pair at Tiger/Poet Classic
Mascoto '07 Leads the Way with Two Double-Doubles

Michelle Mascoto '07 had a pair of double-doubles and earned All-Tournament honors as Whittier College won two games at the Tiger/Poet Classic, hosted by Occidental College on December 18 and 19.  The Poets beat Kalamazoo 69-63 on day one of the tournament and earned a 61-57 victory over La Sierra University on day two.

Mascoto scored 20 points and pulled down eleven rebounds against Kalamazoo.  Against La Sierra, she tallied 15 points and ten rebounds.  Also named to the All-Tournament team was Desiree Flores '07.  She scored 17 against Kalamazoo and seven in the win over La Sierra.  Rosario Rios-Aguilar '08 scored 13 points and dished out six assists on day one.  The next day, she tallied 12 points and added four steals.  Megan Wingo '07 had a big day against La Sierra, scoring eleven points and pulling down ten boards.

The Poets are now 4-3 and have won three straight.  their next contest is on December 21 at home versus the College of Wooster.  Game Time is scheduled for 12 pm.
