Women's Basketball Evens SCIAC Record
Wingo '07 Finishes With Double-Double

Megan Wingo '07 posted game-highs with 14 points and eleven rebounds to lead Whittier College to a 62-43 victory over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Voelkel Gymnasium on January 20.  The Poets are now 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the SCIAC.

Wingo was 7-for-11 from the field in 26 minutes of play.  Michelle Mascoto '07 scored 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, had four assists and two steals.  Dana Allen '07 and Michelle Araw '07 each finished with ten points.  Allen also added five rebounds and three steals.

The Poets shot just over 46 percent from the field while holding the Sagehens (4-10, 1-3 SCIAC) to just under 25 percent shooting.  Raquel Viramontes was the leading scorer for Pomona with eleven points.  The Poets held a 28-21 lead at halftime and shot 15-for-28 in the second half to expand their lead.

The Poets are at home to take on SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in their next game on January 25 at 7:30pm.
