Purple & Gold (P&G) is the primary support group for the Whittier College athletics program. Through its dedicated fundraising efforts, P&G serves as a valuable resource for special athletic needs, including travel expenses for out-of-state tournaments, training equipment, facility improvements, athletic shoes, awards, and other items to enhance the men’s and women’s sports programs. Annual contributions help support all 21 intercollegiate athletic teams, involving nearly one-third of the men and women who are students at the College.

In addition to fundraising, P&G is also active in the lives of Poet student-athletes through sponsorship of annual events, such as the fall tailgate party, the P&G Basketball Classic, the All-Sports Awards Banquet, and the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. October 7th – 5:00 p.m. Football Tailgate Party: Whittier vs. Menlo College
(Football field parking lot; game begins at 7:00 p.m.)

October 21st – 1:00 p.m. Homecoming Football Game: Whittier vs. La Verne
(Family carnival and barbeque on the Lower Quad following the game)

January 2nd-3rd – 2:00 p.m. P&G Poet Basketball Classic
(Women’s games at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.)

May 7th – 8:00 a.m. 35th Annual P&G Golf Classic @ Friendly Hills Country Club
