Jaro '65 Speaks at Inaugural President's Club Luncheon
Whittier College Athletic Hall of Famer, Larry Jaro '65 came
back to the College as a guest speaker at the inaugural President's Club
luncheon hosted at the Faculty Center on March 15. The President's
Club honors the student-athletes that maintain a grade point average of
3.5 or better. Forty-seven student-athletes were invited to
attend.
Jaro was inducted into the Whittier College Athletic Hall of Fame in
1998. He was a football and track and field star for the Poets;
winning a SCIAC championship in the shot put his freshman year.
Upon graduation, he taught at his high school alma mater, Montebello
High School for four years. Realizing his true passion was to work
in the stock market, Jaro began an extensive, three-month training
period for Merrill Lynch in New York City. He returned to Southern
California and became the number one sales person of the group in his
training class. He moved on to become the Vice President of E.F.

Jaro later went into business
with a high school friend, purchasing a Burger King franchise in Denver,
Colo. Four years later, Jaro owned over 400 franchises, and moved
on to owning Krispy Kreme franchises as well.
In his speech at the President's Club Luncheon, Jaro's message was
simple: find your passion. He told the student-athletes not
to do something exclusively for money or fame. "The most important
thing in life is self-fulfillment," he said. He encouraged his
audience to find something they love and go after their dreams. |
