Gardening:
Several years ago I converted my rather boring grass and weed
lawns into native plant experiments. In the process I seem to
have become a gardener and now find that I really enjoy
puttering about in my back yard.
Travel:
During my sabbatical year I had the great good fortune to go
around the world. I walked the Great Wall of China, sauntered
through the ruins of Angkor Wat, photographed giraffes and
wildebeest in Africa, and attended Candomble rituals in Brazil.
I also spent 5 weeks in Morocco studying Arabic in the medieval
city of Fez.
