Welcome to my webpage. I am an
Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Whittier
College. I teach a variety of survey courses (Religions
of the West, of the East, New Religious Movements) and
thematic courses (religion and the body, sound and
religion, ritual studies, gender and religion) all of
which assume that religion is a human institution that
is inextricably connected to social, cultural, and
historical contexts.
My specialization in graduate school was feminist ethics
and theology but since teaching at Whittier I have
integrated my interest in gender issues with broader
socio-cultural analyses. My current scholarly interests
include experiential classroom techniques in the
Religious Studies classroom, and the role of religious
studies in diversity education; I am also interested in
single-sex households in the Maghreb.
