As you will soon see, the majority of Hartley House’s events are dedicated to diversity and multiculturalism. They aim to strengthen intellectual discourse on a variety of topics and provide a realistic exposure to the kind of world you will enter upon graduation. The Liberal Arts for a Global Future is a series designed to introduce you to practical applications of the liberal arts and the benefits of being broadly educated in today’s fast-paced, ever-changing cosmopolitan world. The Alumni Leadership Series is designed to help you network with and learn from those Whittier alumns who now know first-hand the benefits of a solid preparation in the liberal arts. The Cultural Connections Series aims to educate and engage you about the global nature of civilizations, our conflicts and our common love for the beauty of music, art, family, traditions, community, and the human spirit. Our Sabor con Knowledge Programs offer you tasty and fun ways to learn about the Spanish-speaking world—so keep your eyes and ears open for more announcements for Salsa lessons, theater en español, Noches de poesía, and excursions to fun places in LA. New this year are three additional series: The Science and Discovery Series, designed to engage you in the fascinating world of formulas, experiments and scientific know-how, The Faculty Research Sharing Series, in which our very own Professors share their passion for what they teach and publish, and The Student Research Sharing Series, in which Whittier’s future scholars share their expertise on their favorite subjects.
