GENERAL GUIDELINES: The events at Garrett House are programmed
by the faculty master, and are chosen to conform with a set of
themes that the House will focus on each year. However,
faculty, staff, RA's, and students representing clubs and
organizations are welcome to submit program ideas.
Budgeting is limited, and preference will be given to programs
with a broad potential audience, and programs associated with
(and with attendance required by) particular classes and
departments. No event may be booked at the master house
without the prior approval of the Faculty Master. If you
wish to propose an event at Garrett House, you should contact
the faculty master well in advance by email so he or she can consider the
request and check the calendar for conflicts.
GUIDELINES FOR SOCIETIES AND CLUBS: Societies and clubs are
especially encouraged to submit proposals for events that focus
on charity, academics, community, and culture. Although
preference is given to programs with an educational element,
social events will also be considered. Events should
maintain a moderate noise level and not go too late in the
evening, so that our child is not kept up. Organizers
should plan to be finished and cleaned up by 9 p.m.
WEEKENDS VERSUS WEEKDAYS: Typically, weekends are family time
at Garrett, and only on rare occasions will events be considered
on a Saturday or a Sunday. Organizers should plan to be finished and
cleaned up by 9 p.m. at the latest.
FUNDING: I tend to plan well in advance, and my budget gets
locked in pretty quickly, so that requests for funding that come
after the fall semester are unlikely to be successful.
Before you come to Garrett, please attempt to get funding for
events via COR, OSA, Dean of Faculty, Dean of Students, and other campus resources.
You will do better if you get co-funding in advance and then
come to me with a smaller request!
