“Educational Reform in Latin America Under the Influence
of Neoliberalism”
The neoliberal influence in Latin America has not spared
public education. Based on standards of efficiency,
neoliberal opinions consider the latin American public
education system plagued with ineffective teachers and
unnecessarily bloated bureaucracy, and therefore in need
of decentralization and curtailment. This paper examines
current trends in Latin American public education and
proposes alternatives to neoliberal solutions.
