MARK CANNER

  A better way to fly:

I am a worm sperm of the fetal jungle, I
Crawl underground in the dark
Unaware of the sky's potential
Unaware of the astronomical limits
Of knowledge to be reached
I crawl until I realize
My minds metamorphic limit

A cocoon evolution of freedom
Filled with beauty and color
Cotton candy clouds of moist
Joy and cushioned comfort,

With darkness watching and lurking
Casting deadly lightening bolts,
Of Destructive incineration, from another Chapter
In Mother Nature's calendar of diabolical plots

An imperfect aviation tower
Creates a situational stressed sky
Of crashes and confrontation
A true testament just to survive

With some luck at the heightened levels
Comes less stress and more spiritual Understanding,
Appreciation for the Winds ability to
Caste the chill of unpredictability

A daunting disarray of each day's delusions
Creates a fresh start, within every split second
A chance to fly to the top of the sky
Or flounder into the ground of obliteration

Conforming:

I often think of an essay like a joint
With a thesis, supporting info all leading to a main point
Where you cram a large amount of info into a paper
A place to express personal opinions like Ralph Nader
And the only proper procrastination is junk food
With paranoia haunting the brain making you
Worry about when the assignments due.
And at the end of the semester you're left with five packets of burnt paper
And your mind becomes flooded to free like the process
Of Dipping in a glass of milk a vanilla wafer

When you finish this literary joint
It is an insatiable feeling
Like you have floated out of your
Chair and are about to hit the ceiling

Unfortunately the remnants of a joint can be a pester
Because like the essay the ramifications will stay with you
For the three months of the semester
Where you fear what your parents will say
When they see that you're ineligible to play
Sports, all because of a failed class
From an essay drug exam, not passed

The Wind Cries Mary

Hey baby
Where are you
Coming from

Now only euphoric
Dreams have hypnotic eyes
And soft salivating lips

My foxy lady, messing
Around with another man

A pig stomping over my broken
Picket fences of wonderland street

The broken pieces
Of yesterday's lies

So fly on by
My little angel

Through a desire less
Masturbation of my
Eternal cloudy days

And so castles made of
Sand shift into the sea

Eventually, everyone's
Soft square of toilet paper
Is flushed down the tubes

Insomnia:

I think too much while I lie in bed
Reminiscing events of the day in my head
Every instance of flirting or athletic play
I even hear what the walls have to say
While the stairs creep
I jump from a mere mouse's peep

My mom tells me to count sheep
But I get too wrapped up in their wool coats
Ant slaughter house where they are cut into meat
Oh if only I could rest for a moment
Bounce on clouds and what ever my mind wanted
I could be free of responsibilities of tomorrow
An in class essay and 14 line sonnet

Instead I lie awake fearing my alarm sounding
Where cement are my feet and every day I'm drowning

Stigmata's Seasonal Summer Somber:

Apocalyptic administrative authority, affiliated with
Barbarously boring books
Create a cataclysmic cranium
Distortion thereby disassembling life's daily desires while
Excavating essential joys of evolving impressionable minds
Fundamentally fixated teachers create a fear of failure which
Gradually affects the overall grade school greatness by
Hindering on hope and home grown honesty
Ironically creating insecurities that erupt in
Juvenile junior High's adolescent changes
Key in the kinetic overload of
Lingering lust and lack of confidence, leads to
Minds metamorphisizing into mockery,
Naturally neglecting any teachers warnings
Of optimistic opinions in sex ed. on
Promiscuous perversion porn parties which
Question the quintessential quiddity of such a class curriculum,
Requiring constant reading, and reflecting of mind boggling
School subjects, suggesting the secret is the indented lines,
Ting or music is the only solution, which
Undermines the understanding of academic utilization by
Verifying that honor role virtue, is a vast
Wasteland of evil, which creates Columbine High's, world wide, EXecutions of innocence, result from
Years of resentment and students cast as replaceable, create
Zero-sum institutions of suicide, and drowning unemployment.

The last image before my dreams:

I wake to four
Feet instead of two
With legs for days and
A juicy peach bottom
Filled with sweetness of you

I kiss your dimple
Shoulder blades for
A morning snack
A delicacy of
Perfection is your back

My fingers run up
Silky sun purified
Skin that heats
My heart from within

I pull back your
Lavender essence hair
Only to get lost
In your eyes for eternity,
An enchanting puzzle
Of everlasting uncertainty

A smile of addicting lips
From cheek to cheek
A seduction of mine making
It impossible to sleep

A pointy button nose
That broke the mold
With Eskimo kisses of
Warmth in the cold

But it is your
Innocence that subdues me
Like the bubble
Warmth of a Jacuzzi

And I realize that
Your best feature
Is my heart
Because it has been
Yours from the start

My UFOric Society:

Evergreen trees on every turn
With twenty dollar bills hanging off every limb
Where pollution only rain skittles so you can taste the rainbow
And dentists have the cure for every cavity
Where a smile becomes the National Currency
And the I.R.S only calls to ask how your day is
Where taxes are only for multimillionaires
And factories spurt out the smell of fresh baked bread
Where the cure for every disease is a simple cootie shot
And every test is a take-home
Where wars are fought on a checkers board
And life's only stress is death from old age
A civilization under the realization that everyone goes to heaven
Except for Hitler!

Warner Brother's:

With the speed of a falling piano
He will leave you in a sandstorm of dust
Across the dessert plains he runs

Under the close eye
Of the dangerous coyote
He escapes danger day after day

With disaster at every turn
He sports a mile long grin
And taunts you as he gets away
