ZHANG ZHEN (1961-)
Zhang Zhen was born in Shanghai, where she grew
up. She studied journalism at Fudan University,
moved to Sweden in 1983, married a Swedish
diplomat in 1985, returned to Beijing and in
1988 went to study in Japan. In recent years she
has lived in the United States, studying at the
University of Iowa and the University of Chicago
and is currently Assisting Professor in the
Tisch School of the Arts, Jack H. Skirball
Center for New Media and Film, Department of
Cinema Studies, New York University. She writes
on Chinese Cinema, and in 2001-2 received a J.P.
Getty Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her Selected
Poems has appeared in Chinese.
