Whittier College is located in the hills overlooking metropolitan Los Angeles in Southern California.

Nationally recognized for its outstanding liberal arts curriculum, Whittier College has a tradition of excellence in the preparation of teachers; Education classes are small, instructors practice what they teach about effective teaching, and classes meet in the late afternoon, evening, and summer to accommodate working graduate students. All Whittier coursework has a fieldwork component that provides candidates with opportunities for observation and practical application.

Whittier College is fully accredited by the California Board of Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) to offer programs leading toward both the
Multiple Subject (elementary) Teaching Credential and the Single Subject (secondary) Teaching Credential. Much of the successfully completed coursework for one's teaching credential can be used to fulfill requirements for the Master of Arts in Education degree.
