Facilities
The Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts that
opened in the fall of 1990 houses two theatres. The
Robinson Theatre is a 400-seat proscenium theatre with
flexible staging and a court-style auditorium with a
horseshoe-shaped balcony. It is an intimate and exciting
performance space for actors and audience alike.
Even more intimate is the Studio Theatre, with seating
for about 100 people. It can be configured for theatre
in the round, proscenium, thrust, alley, and countless
other possibilities. The Studio Theatre is also
our laboratory space for acting, directing, lighting,
voice and movement courses in addition to a possible
venue for student initiated projects.
The Shannon Center also houses
scenery and costume shops, large dressing rooms, a green
room, faculty and staff offices, spacious
lobby areas, and an excellent array of modern lighting,
sound, and rigging equipment. Additionally, a
state-of-the-art, multimedia classroom is located in the
Shannon Center and the building provides wireless
internet service for students and faculty. |
