Education: B.A. in theatre and political science, University of California, Riverside; M.F.A. in Theatre Design and Technology, Humboldt State University.

Courses: Introduction to Design & Technology, Scenic Design, Drawing and Drafting for the Theatre, Painting for the Theatre, Theatre Practicum, and Introduction to College Writing: The Art of the One-Act Play.

Professional Experience: Professor Reed has designed scenery for the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival, the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble, the Zephyr Theatre, the Gascon Theatre, the California Theatre Center, the Summer Theatre at Mt. Holyoke College, and Pomona College. He has worked for the scenic design department of WGBH-TV, the public television station in Boston. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. Since 1997, he also has served on USITT's conference planning committee, helping to plan and administer the Institute's annual conferences in Phoenix (2007), Louisville (2006), Toronto (2005 & 1999), Long Beach (2004, 2001 & 1998), Minneapolis (2003), New Orleans (2002), and Denver (2000). He has written articles for USITT's quarterly magazine, Theatre Design & Technology, including one about the Walt Disney Concert Hall. He also has served as the editor of the USITT Southern California Section Newsletter. Mr. Reed is a member, as a scenic designer, of United Scenic Artists, Local USA-829 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees; he is also a Western Region Trustee for the Local.
